Known as “the girl with the red hair,” Hannie Schaft stands in a field of tulips while Nazi soldiers close in behind her. The portrait honors the young Dutch resistance fighter who helped protect Jewish people, carried out acts of sabotage and continued resisting until she was captured and executed just weeks before the end of the war.
