A Jewish woman stands apart from representatives of UN Women, whose signs quietly alter the familiar call to believe women into “Believe Some Women” and “Sometimes.” Created in response to the treatment of Israeli victims of sexual violence following October 7, the painting asks why belief, advocacy, and solidarity can become conditional when the women involved do not fit a preferred political narrative.
